Rosann Winn: Bio & Booking

Rosann Winn is a singer-songwriter and jazz vocalist based in Fort Collins, Colorado. She performs in all kinds of musical settings - including solo acoustic guitar/voice - but her ambitions as a vocalist, songwriter and recording artist have led her to perform music with folk, jazz, pop, and classical musicians, in duo formats to big bands.

Rosann has been making music professionally for the past 17 years both in Fort Collins and in Rochester, Minnesota where she was a member of the pop/folk duo Take 2, with guitarist Dave Carr. She also sang with the Choral Arts Ensemble, a 40-voice auditioned choir in Rochester. Since moving to Fort Collins in 1998 Rosann has shared the stage with many acoustic musicians including singer-songwriter Vicki Pompea, hammered dulcimer player/singer-songwriter Steve Eulberg, blues guitarist/singer Johnny Johnston, flamenco guitarist Piatro, and Denver area singer-songwriters Jennifer Friedman and Katey Laurel. Rosann was the opening act for regional guitarist Steven Wiseman at a concert at the Rialto Theater in Loveland, and opened as the Rosann Winn Duo, with multi-instrumentalist Bob Montgomery, for the Denver based Wendy Woo Band at Avogadro's Number in Fort Collins.

Rosann has self-released three recordings on her Set It Free Music label - her debut “Looking Back” in 1999, “An Acoustic Collection” in 2003, and "Wish & Smile" in 2007. Rosann’s song "Not Alone" was included on the Fort Collins Rocks Local Music Compilation-Volume 2, released in 2004, and "Looking Back" was featured on the Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County Compilation #1, released in 2005.

Rosann began her journey into jazz singing in 2005 when being invited to join the Colorado Swing Big Band - formerly the FortJazz Big Band - as a featured vocalist. Since then Rosann has collaborated and performed with many area jazz musicians and groups including Bob Montgomery, Mark Manges, Ron Holleman, Andrew Vogt, Matthew Arau, Gary Brunner, Adam Bodine, Tim Gauthier, Chuck Landgraf, Scott Ford, Chris Dale, Monty Hogan, John Johnson, Paul Santanachote, the Sri Thai Jazz Group, the Montgomery Jazz Group, Ethos West Chamber Orchestra, the Mark Manges Project, and The Just Jazz Quintet. In 2010 Rosann recorded the song "The Very Thought of You" for use in the Pathways Hospice theatre production of Tuesdays with Morrie, and also was featured on three vocal tracks for an album of swing era favorites recorded by the Colorado Swing Big Band at the University of Northern Colorado recording studios.

Rosann holds a bachelors degree in music from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and a masters degree in management from St. Mary's University of Minnesota. Her musical influences run the gamut of classical, musical theatre and cabaret, jazz standards and torch songs, 70's & 80's rock, and contemporary folk. She was raised on a dairy farm in central Minnesota, exposed to her father's love of big band swing and her mother's talents on the piano and accordion.

Currently Rosann is booking folk and jazz performances in Fort Collins and the surrounding region. She also continues to perform as a featured vocalist with the Colorado Swing Big Band and is a leader of the praise and worship band at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Fort Collins.
